Hosted by Firmdale Wine Consultant Emily Harman, the evening promises to take you on a journey of discovery through the old and new of this country’s wines whilst enjoying a specially created menu of colourful and vibrant Greek inspired dishes. In this segment, Douglas Frame (CHS), Gregory Nagy (Harvard University), Leonard Muellner (Brandeis University), and Allie Marbry (CHS) read Odyssey 1.1-10. From mineral white wines produced on the dreamy islands in the Aegean Sea (such as Santorini), to the age-worthy and complex reds from the mountains in the north of mainland Greece. Together they help even new readers explore the words and formulas that make the poetry of grammar and the grammar of poetry in Homeric epic so exquisite and rewarding. A broad range of climates, soils and grapes makes for an exciting wine culture and there’s now a vast array of new wave producers who are making outstanding wines. The TV show centers on Peter Maneas’s greek experience, food, lifestyle, culture, characters, etc. Greece is home to one of the oldest wine histories in Europe. Sail the Greek islands with the charismatic Peter Maneas as he takes his superyacht to 227 of Greece’s inhabited islands. Peter Maneas is a property developer, entrepreneur, and TV show star for the documentary series, My Greek Odyssey, which started in 2018. Begin the evening with canapés, before moving onto a delicious five-course menu with handpicked wine pairings. As with the Iliad, the poem is divided into 24 books.
